That's so silly Asher

Some of you may not know that my nephew Asher is like a little sponge when it comes to things Uncle John and I tell him. I don't remember why or what made me think of it, but I decided to tell him about the dangers of lead. I wanted to put it into words that he could understand. So I told him if kids eat lead it will make them grow up to be stupid. He thought that was pretty funny!! On Halloween we took the kids trick or treating. Asher wanted to ride with us which was fine because he cracks me up sometimes. On the way back to church he asked if we wanted to hear a spooky story. I couldn't wait. So here is the spooky story Asher told us. "Once on a time there was a scary mean monster who gave all the little kids lead for candy, and then they got stupid,". Man that is smart!!!

My Dad part 2

Just wanted you to know that Dad's MRI came back normal. The first showed something on the stem of his brain, but the second one showed that it was just a shadow. We are still not sure what caused the seizures. They have put him on meds to keep them from happening again hopefully. He is coming home today and is feeling great. Thanks to all those prayers. God is wonderful!!!

My Dad

Last night I received a frantic call from my mother that my Dad had passed out and she thought he was having a heart attack. I arrived at their house a few moments later to find him on the kitchen floor with paramedics attending to him. My heart was heavy with the memory of the same phone call and trip to the same house when my Grandpa Allen passed away in my arms. I was so relieved to see him awake and somewhat alert. He even managed to sneak some sense of humor into the moment. The EMT asked him to smile, so he could check his facial muscles. Dad told him to wait. He thought they were going to take his picture! The only thing we know as of today is he had some seizures we just don't know what caused them. Possibly a stroke but they will run more tests in the morning. Please keep him in your prayers. And if you are able to hug and kiss your parents please take the time to do it.

Just so ya know

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jude giggled really big for Daddy today! Of course, I'm home with him 24/7 and Daddy gets the first giggle. Do you know how many funny faces I've made this week trying to get it out of him. My feelings are not hurt though. This just proves my theory that John really is funnier looking than me!!

As kids see it

Don't you just love it when something makes you laugh so hard you just can't stop. Like when for some unknown reason you get the giggles in church over a funny memory and have to walk out because people are getting annoyed with you! Many of those memories come from my kids or other kids in my life. Just thought I would tell ya about a few of them.
Chandra is teaching the children's ministry a new song they will sing at church in November. While sitting in a restaurant with Isaac, Shane (Lisa's son), and John, I asked the boys what song they were learning. Isaac said "Jesus loves me." Then Shane added " except we're singing it in Bon Jovi language." At first I thought maybe Chandra was shakin things up with a little rock-n-roll version of and old classic, which sounds like something I would do so I wouldn't put it past her either. After a few seconds I remembered reading a letter to the parents about teaching new culture to our kids so they would be singing a song in an African language called Bassa! Good ol' Shane!
About 3 or so years ago Isaac was really into reading signs around him. He would read a sign like Save-a-Lot on his own and we of course would praise him on his new reading skills. One afternoon after a trip to Wal Mart (home away from home) we passed a local funeral home. Isaac asked me where the women have their funerals? I replied "why do you ask that?"
He said "because we just passed the mans funeral home so where do the women go?"
It only took a short moment for me to realize we had just passed Mahnns Funeral Home!!!
I couldn't stop laughing long enough to explain it to him!
One day a long time ago Grace asked me if she could use the canaculator. What in the world I thought is she talking about! She is very sensitive so I didn't want to say there is no such word and if there is we don't have one so I simply said I don't know where it is. A few days later she asked if she could use her brothers banaculators. I couldn't resist at that point. I asked her what those were and she showed me a pair of binoculars. When I told her how to say it correctly she informed me she knew how to say it that way but she sounded more mature when she says it her way. You know like when she asked me for the calculator a few days prior!

She is bound to come

Soon she will creep in like a thief in the night
Giving us a colorful warning
Long will be the dark and short the light
Leaving pink and yellow in mourning

She's been inhaling a breath that can blow sails
No one person could hear it
I know by the end of her strong exhale
We will beg her to quit

Skin crystal clear her clothes crisp and clean
She appears to be so sweet
Yet can make the strongest of trees lean
Her only enemy brings heat

Children will celebrate when she falls
And be glad to see her go
She travels in a slow and steady crawl
Making the land glow

When she sings you feel her mighty chill
Deep into your very center
With many names call her what you will
I will call her winter

okay okay I'm blogging!

It is Sunday morning and I feel like I should be cleaning or cooking or waking people up but I know within thirty minutes I will wish I had these few minutes back. Today John, Isaac, Shane, and I are going to six flags. I'm very excited to spend some time just having fun with my hubby and eldest. I do however wonder how I will do being away from Jude all afternoon. I know he will survive without me, but will I without him? I know time away is badly needed especially when it comes to John and I. We are starting to talk baby talk to one another. There is nothing romantic in the words "do you want a backy wacky rubby wubby"!!! We are putting our house up for sale this week with hopes of making a little money to put into savings and move into my parents house. They bought a house with about 3 acres 10 minutes from here. Our new place will have 4 beds and 3 baths. John can't wait to go to the bathroom without hearing "Daddy I have to go so bad I can't hold it for one more second or I'm gonna make a lake on the floor". We all know how dramatic Grace can be. I'm more excited about being in my old neighborhood. It is familiar and comforting. The house is the first home we lived in with Dad (Warren my stepfather). He remodeled it and added on all on his own out of the love has for us and his desire to give Mom, Desi, and I our first real home where there would be no worries of sharing a bedroom with each other or having to run the oven with the door open because the baseboard heater keeps going out. Don't get me wrong we had plenty of good times in our 1 bedroom house on third, but we were destine for a new life with him. I will sit with my family in the same living room my parents and brother and I sat in to watch t.v. We will gather in the same kitchen and laugh together just like my childhood. I will sit on the edge of the bed in the same room my mom did and talk to my husband about our day the same way my parents did every night before bed. Call me sappy but it does bring a tear to my eye!! Well like Great Granny used to say " you can't look your Sunday best if you don't get off your hiney and get dressed!" xoxoxo got to go
